  • Passes MB M271 test for engine sludge.
  • Passes MB M271 test for cam and piston ring wear.
  • Passes OM646LA test (CEC-L-099-08) for cam wear (inlet/outlet), cylinder wear, bore polish, tappet wear (inlet/outlet), piston cleanliness and engine sludge.
  • Passes MB NEDC fuel economy tests.

 

Engine wear and durability

 

  • Passes Peugeot TU3M valve-train scuffing test (CEC-L-38-A-94) test for cam wear.
  • Passes ASTM Sequence VIII bearing corrosion (ASTM D6709) for bearing weight loss.
  • Passes OM646LA test (CEC-L-099-08) for cam wear (inlet/outlet), cylinder wear, bore polish, tappet wear (inlet/outlet), piston cleanliness and engine sludge.

 

· Engine cleanliness

 

  • Passes Peugeot TU5JP-L4 high-temperature deposits (CEC-L- 88-T-02) for ring sticking and piston varnish.
  • Passes ASTM Sequence IIIG piston deposit test (ASTM D7320) for viscosity increase, piston deposits and cam and lifter wear.
  • Passes the VW TDI piston cleanliness test (CEC-L-78-T-99) for piston cleanliness.
  • Passes ASTM Sequence VG engine sludge test (ASTM D6593).
  • Passes MB M271 test for engine sludge.

 

· Soot Control

 

  • Passes DV4TD medium-temperature dispersivity test (CEC-L-093-04)for viscosity increase.

 

Main Applications

 

  • Shell Helix Ultra Professional AM-L 5W-30 for gasoline and diesel engines is approved against the technically challenging Mercedes-Benz MB 229.511, BMW LL-042 and Maserati lowSAPS specifications.
  • It is formulated especially for use in diesel engine vehicles using diesel particulate filter (DPF) technology.
  • Its low-SAPS formulation helps to protect DPF systems from plugging.

1 May be used in Mercedes-Benz diesel engines with or without a diesel particulate filter
2 May be used in gasoline engines in the EU, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Not for use in BMW M engines
